Shaping the Future of Libraries in Africa

The NextGen Libraries Conference 2025 is a beautiful gathering for librarians, archivists, ICT professionals, and knowledge managers. Scheduled for 10th–14th November 2025 in Nakuru City, Kenya, the conference will explore how libraries are transforming into digital knowledge hubs, innovation spaces, and community learning centers.
With the theme “Digitize. Organize. Humanize.”, the event emphasizes the urgent need for African libraries to evolve into smart, inclusive, and user-centered spaces. It highlights the balance between technological advancement and the human touch — where digital transformation meets ethical information access, inclusivity, and lifelong learning.
To promote creativity, innovation, and teamwork in library administration and information management, the five-day conference will include interactive sessions, paper presentations, seminars, and networking forums. Participants will get useful knowledge about:
– Automation in libraries and digital transformation,
– Information accessibility and user experience,
– Library decision-making based on data,
– Digital preservation and policy frameworks and
– Integration of resources and exchange of knowledge.
We invite librarians, researchers, and information professionals to submit papers and case studies for presentation during the event on 10th–14th November 2025 via library@rimeastafrica.org. Submissions should explore innovations in digitization, knowledge organization, and human-centered library services. Accepted papers will be featured in the Conference Proceedings, with selected works considered for publication in the www.informationassetsworld.com. (Confirmed Speakers get a 30% discount)
Librarians serve as the human gateway to a vast knowledge base. They are essential to:
– encouraging media literacy and combating false information.
– strengthening marginalized groups in order to close the digital divide.
– encouraging learning throughout life for people of all ages.
– preserving privacy and intellectual freedom.
– utilizing digitization and archiving to preserve institutional and cultural memory.
– encouraging creativity and community involvement.
By taking the lead, libraries are not only embracing the digital era but also making sure that knowledge is still morally sound, easily available, and liberating.
